Ohio Station Outlets near Burbank is a premiere shopping destination for northeast Ohio. Built in 1996 as the Buckeye Factory Shops, Ohio Station Outlets has been rebranded to attract a more diverse set of stores and to provide a pleasant experience for the customers.
“We work hard to provide a unique, fun, and exciting experience for our shoppers,” said General Manager Trinity D’Andrea Elmiger. “We want to offer more than shopping. We want to offer a family experience, a time to make memories. This makes it fun, unique, and rewarding for us to work here as well.”
One unique aspect of Ohio Station Outlets is allowing Ohio-based establishments from around northeast Ohio to operate among national retailers. This relationship with the well-known national brands is a benefit for the local businesses.
A diverse group of shoppers visits Ohio Station Outlets. There are more than 3 million people within 45 miles of the outlet. “Most of our shoppers are from within this 45-mile radius,” D’Andrea Elmiger said. “That’s our core base. We define them as ex-urbanites.” These are people who live outside the city but are still in the prosperous areas beyond the suburbs.
Ohio Station Outlets brings in an average of 2,200 cars per day, and annually, they see over 2 million visitors. But shoppers don’t just show up by luck. A well-executed advertising strategy is the key to bringing them in.
“We do a lot of advertising,” D’Andrea Elmiger said. “Beyond the traditional newspaper, radio, and travel publications, we have an active social media presence. We use Facebook to make immediate contact with our customer base. We also do television sponsorships with PBS Kids in the Cleveland market. PBS Kids is a natural choice of channel to reach the families in our area. They are key in helping us promote the family activities here at Ohio Station Outlets beyond shopping.”
Lorain-Medina Rural Electric Cooperative helps promote the mall by inviting them to attend the cooperative’s annual meeting in July.
Ohio Station Outlets hosts many child-related events. “We have the Easter Bunny Express, Pumpkin Patch, and Santa Express train rides,” D’Andrea Elmiger said. “Throughout the spring and summer, we entertain kids with multiple events like a meet-and-greet with super heroes and book characters, and tea parties with princesses.”
The next fun event is the Easter Bunny Express from April 1 through April 14. This includes the Easter egg hunt on April 14. A portion of the money raised benefits the Akron Children’s Hospital. This year, the Easter egg hunt will take place at half-hour intervals to keep the crowds manageable and make it a better experience for the kids.
