Spencer, OH – Lorain-Medina Rural Electric Cooperative (LMRE), in partnership with CoBank, a national cooperative bank, is proud to announce a $19,120 grant to Cloverleaf Elementary School. The purpose of the funding is to assist with the purchase of 17 Thinking Desks for each of the school’s math classrooms.

Shannon Trexler, the principal at Cloverleaf Elementary, sought the grant for these interactive desks as a way for the school to continue their mission of creating and promoting a more collaborative space for students in their math classrooms.

“We’re excited to bring more active, student-centered math experiences into our classrooms,” Trexler said. “This grant helps us move toward classrooms where students are working together, taking risks, and developing a deeper understanding of mathematics.”

The CoBank Sharing Success matching grant program allows LMRE to demonstrate “Concern for Community,” one of its Seven Cooperative Principles. Through this grant, the cooperative can support the continued growth and education of young minds who will eventually have an impact on the communities and people that LMRE serves.

“Helping our schools obtain the materials and resources necessary to directly impact the lives of the children within our community is vital to their quality of life,” said LMRE President/CEO Ed VanHoose. “Our cooperative founders worked together 90 years ago to form LMRE, and we’re excited to help foster that same spirit of collaboration at Cloverleaf Elementary through this grant.”

LMRE continues to partner with CoBank to assist schools, organizations, and the community with funding wherever possible. For more information about LMRE, CoBank, or the Sharing Success program, please visit www.lmre.org.
