The 81st annual meeting of Lorain-Medina Rural Electric Cooperative will be held Tuesday, July 18, at the Lorain County Fairgrounds in Wellington.
The cooperative will be introducing its new OurSolar program. Presentations outlining the program will be given at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.  
The cooperative is completing construction of a 226-panel solar array at the cooperative’s headquarters in Wellington. The program will give members the opportunity to purchase 1-, 5- , 10-, 15-, or 20-year subscriptions to the electricity produced by the panels. They will be able to purchase the output of up to five panels. 
Family Fun Day will kick off at 1 p.m. The day’s activities will include bounce houses, an electric safety demonstration by LMRE linemen, face painting, and a photo booth. Critter Camp of Huntington Township and the Jungle Bob Reptile Show are back. Activities provided by the Center of Science and Industry (COSI) will replace the children’s rides.
All children will be given a sticker when their parents or grandparents register. Stickers must be worn to enjoy the bounce houses and special displays. Member business displays and wellness booths will be open from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Lifeshare will be conducting a blood drive. Anyone 17 and older is eligible to donate. 
Rader’s Homemade Ice Cream will be on hand selling sweet treats, and Big Dog’s Catering will serve dinner from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Member business displays will be open from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. The business meeting starts at 6 p.m.
This year, the cooperative has one contested race with two Sullivan Township members seeking to fill the District 7 seat. Two incumbents are running unopposed for the other two seats. 
Ballots were mailed to all members in mid-June. Members can vote using a paper or online ballot until 11:59 a.m. on Friday, July 14. Winners will be announced at the annual meeting. 
Thomas Reisinger and Brenda Wolfe, both of Sullivan Township, will vie for the District 7 seat.   
Incumbents Gary Rowland of Brighton Township and John Eaton of Huntington Township are running unopposed for their respective seats in District 1 and District 4. Biographical summaries for the candidates can be found on pages 20 and 20A.
Winners of the trustee races and the outcome of the Code of Regulations amendments decision will be announced during the annual meeting. 
Members are considering three Code of Regulations amendments dealing with patronage capital credits.
