Watt's New
Coopertive announces scholarship recipients
Wellington and Black River high schools had
students take top honors in Lorain-Medina Rural
Electric Cooperative’s scholarship program. Every
year, LMRE offers high school seniors, whose parents
or guardians are LMRE member-owners, the
opportunity to vie for a college scholarship.
Applicants are required to submit an application,
grade transcript and essay about electric Cooperatives.
A panel of judges then scores each based on
their grade-point average, personal achievements
and an essay. The top five finalists then have a
personal interview with the panel of judges, who
determine the first- and second-place winners. The
first-place winners are eligible to earn an additional
scholarship from the Ohio Rural Electric
