Ash tree removal program expands
October 15, 2012
The Ohio Department of Natural Resources is offering a last chance for residents to get help with removing ash trees from their properties.
Deadline to apply is Nov. 30 for residents in Lorain, Erie, Huron, Sandusky, Ottawa, Wood and Lucas counties.
The program will pay up to 40 percent of the cost of removing two trees per private property owners.
Applicants are at public libraries, townships, village and city offices, county offices of the Soil and Water Conservation Districts and Ohio State University Extension offices. Applicants will be accepted if postmarked, faxed or emailed by Nov. 30.
Funded by ODNR, Division of Forestry, the program provides assistance to help stem the widespread infestation of the ash trees in Northwest Ohio.
