Elyria Catholic and Firelands students earn Youth Tour trip to Washington, D.C.

Ross Heidersbach or Elyria Catholic High School and Aaron Wickes of Firelands High School will be representing Lorain-Medina Rural Electric Cooperative this month on a seven-day, all expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C., through the cooperative's Youth Tour program.
Attractions on their itinerary include the U.S. Capital, Smithsonian Institution, the Vietnam Memorial, Mount Vernon and the Kennedy Center. They will be guests on an evening cruise of the Potomac River. Aaron and Ross will also be meeting Ohio congressional representatives and attending Youth Day ceremonies, where they will learn more about electric cooperatives.
Ross is the son of Pete and Annie Heidersbach of Elyria. He is a member of the Community Foundation of Lorain County, Elyria Catholic Academic Challenge Team and the Elyria Catholic Science Olympiad.
Aaron is the son of David and Laura Wickes of Oberlin. He is active in Firelands FFA earning his Chapter Degree, band and Penfield Co-op Farmers 4-H club.
The Youth Tour competition is based on the student's scholastic record, a competitive examination consisting of general information about cooperatives, questions pertaining to LMRE and recommendation letter submitted by a school or community official.
