Annual meeting board candidate slate set
The annual meeting slate of candidates to serve on the Lorain-Medina Rural Electric Cooperative Board of Trustees is set.
For the first time in three years, members of the cooperative attending the July 21 annual meeting will have a contested race to decide.
In District 5, which encompasses LaGrange Township, Neal Gimben will challenge incumbent Judy Pickworth, who is completing her first three-year term on the board.
In districts 2 and 8, the incumbents are running unopposed. Jim McConnell of Pittsfield (District 2) and Keith Lowe of Homer Township (District 8) are each seeking their fifth term.
Each candidate secured at least 25 signatures from members in their district. Multiple petitions were taken out in each district, but only the four candidates returned them with at least 25 signatures of members who reside in their district.
Full biographical sketches will be included in the July issue of Country Living. Frank Sinatra tribute artist Matt Walch will be the featured entertainment. He will perform at 6 p.m. prior to the business meeting.
All members attending will receive six energy-efficient compact fluorescent light bulbs as part of LMRE’s ongoing CFL Exchange. Members who previously exchanged incandescent lights for CFLs will be eligible to receive the six CFLs. No exchange of lights will be necessary at the annual meeting. Members also will receive a $5 energy credit on their September electric bill.
